Breast Lift

Also known as Mastopexy

Breast lift surgery (mastopexy), is a popular cosmetic procedure designed to lift and reshape sagging breasts. This procedure is suitable for women who are unhappy with the appearance of their breasts due to aging, weight loss, or pregnancy.

There are different types of breast lift techniques that may be used depending on the patient's unique needs, including:

Crescent Lift: This technique involves making a small incision around the upper edge of the areola to remove a small amount of tissue, and is typically used for mild sagging.

Peri-Areolar Lift: Also known as a "donut" lift, this technique involves making a circular incision around the areola, and is ideal for patients with mild to moderate sagging.

Vertical or "Lollipop" Lift: This technique involves making a circular incision around the areola and a vertical incision down to the breast crease, and is ideal for patients with moderate sagging.

Full Mastopexy: This technique involves making an anchor-shaped incision around the areola, down the breast, and along the breast crease, and is ideal for patients with severe sagging.

The best candidates for breast lift surgery are women who:

  • Have sagging breasts due to aging, weight loss, or pregnancy
  • Have nipples that point downward or fall below the breast crease
  • Have stretched skin and lost breast volume
  • Are not planning to have more children or breastfeed in the future

  • Before the surgery, the patient will have a consultation with the surgeon to discuss their goals and determine the best approach for their individual needs. The surgeon may also recommend a breast augmentation or reduction if needed to achieve the desired result.

During the surgery, the surgeon will make incisions around the areola and possibly down the breast, removing excess skin and tissue to reshape the breast. The nipple and areola are also repositioned to a higher position on the breast for a more youthful appearance.

After the surgery, patients should expect some swelling, bruising, and discomfort, which can be managed with pain medication and rest. It is important to avoid strenuous activities and heavy lifting for several weeks, and to wear a supportive bra as recommended by the surgeon to aid in the healing process.

Breast lift surgery can help patients achieve a more youthful, shapely breast contour, and boost their confidence and self-esteem. The results of the surgery are long-lasting, but it is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle and avoid significant weight fluctuations to preserve the results.
